Soil Hill and a cunning plan

16:40 - 18:20.

I had a cunning plan today.

I had arranged to see a pal, I used to work with, for lunch at Halifax, Percy Shaw's a Wetherspoon pub.

It was such a lovely morning I decided to walk to Halifax.

The weather was very kind on the way down with rain coming along when we were in the pub.

The weather having changed, I decided to bus it back and enjoy a late evening stroll up and around Soil Hill.

The plan worked well until I arrived at Soil Hill.
Dark clouds on the horizon had me don my waterproof pants - once I struggle getting the pants on, normally, the rain clouds disperse - but not this evening.

Heavy showers had me yomping around with head down and backside up, trying to keep 'me tackle dry.

I gave 'Ring Ouzle Clough' a coat of looking at, but , in the end, stood at the top in the rain, not venturing down it.

All this waffle means .... not a lot happening up there!!

Snow Bunt. came into mind -  but not into view - in fact the only birds were c50 Meadow Pipit (these sprang up out of thin air, in groups, as I strolled about), 3 Pheasant were about,  and a good few Lapwing with Gulls seen at a distance from the 'clough'.

The rain did pack up and go home and so did I.
The walk home was actually quite pleasant.

A couple of Wren were seen and groups of Gulls were going W. to roost.

A not so cunning plan after all Baldrick!

If crap photography scares you - look away NOW.

Time to don the pants

Distant photo of Lapwing and Gulls in the rain.
(there is a Mega in there - see if you can spot it)

Nearly home time and the sun comes out.

Nearest I came to a Ring Ouzel
