Soil Hill
We 'enjoyed' a morning looking for Xmas presents at Bradford Broadway Shopping Centre this morning.
Later I had a snoop around a very cold and still, Soil Hill.
Not a lot to snoop though.
I was on the lookout for Snow Bunting but it was not to be.
A good hour scout around up here was enjoyable, even if there were very few birds to see on the deck or in the sky.
There were 3 Mallards on the lower (NK) pond.
I did get a cracking bonus of 2 Stonechat ( a Male & Female I believe) that were on the very top of the hill.
The female kept hidden and I could not get the camera to focus on her, through the undergrowth.
Some of the small pools were frozen over and as I was wondering what the temperature was, and I started to hum a song from 1974.
"When will I see you again".
Then I realised it was 3 Degrees.
(Yep - I know it's rubbish).
Just a few Small Gulls seen in the Bradshaw fields on the walk home.
Hopefully some winter thrushes will brighten things up later this week.
Good find with the Stonechat up there. Once common on the hill but not any more.
ReplyDeleteNice one with the Stonechats John, only ever seen one up there, keep up the good work.
