I had a cold couple of hours at Ogden this aft. and a short chat with B.S. who was also out and about.
Not a lot happening, for me, here today.
(There were c20 Lapwing in the football field opposite the Raggalds, when we passed earlier).
Ogden:
A Sparrowhawk flew between buildings as I walked along Ogden Lane.
The water was quiet with just Mallard and a few small gulls and 3 Lesser Black-backed Gulls.
A hunt for Firecrest, Little Grebe, Kingfisher and Dipper failed on all four counts!
I watched a flock of c50 Chaffinch with B.S. as they flitted south along the passerine alley bushes but we did not locate a Brambling.
B.S. spotted a Siskin in flight though.
A Great Spotted Woodpecker called nearby.
I did 2 circuits of the water and the bird of the day was definitely Goldcrest.
There were c20 along passerine alley and 2 lots of c10 in other areas.
Plenty of Goldcrest but not a decent photo to blog!
Also seen along the way were 2 groups of c10 Coal Tit.
It was dark early this aft. and a phone call from Sue,offering me a lift home was gladly accepted and as we arrived home there was a heavy hailstone shower - snow in tomorrow's forecast. Brrrrrrrrr.
Spot the Goldcrest
