Bolton Abbey and Ogden

We had a circular walk from the Cavendish Pavilion to Barden Bridge (with a pleasant stop at the Strid Woods cafe for a cuppa) this morning.

In Bradshaw the weather was fine and clear and the mist/fog had just about cleared as we arrived at Bolton Abbey.

Birds:-

There were Nuthatch 'everywhere' I reckon we saw about 20!
The pictures though are not up to much.
Also here c30 Fieldfare, c10 Redwing with many Blackbirds.
Pheasants, Coal Tit, Mistle Thrush, c30 Mandarin Duck seen in groups along the river and a F. Goosander

3 Dipper and a short lived excitement when a Black Redstart morphed into another Nuthatch.

Ogden 14:40 - 15:40

Sue dropped me off at Ogden so I could have a look around and a walk home afterwards.

A repeat performance to yesterday, I'm afraid , with nothing 'juicy' knocking about.
c60 Small Gulls with 1 Lesser Black-backed Gull and a possible fly over of a Herring Gull but I could have been mistaken.

c10 Goldcrest were zipping about in Passerine alley and the usual Wrens and Robins were seen round and about.

C25 Canada Geese flew over the promenade > N as I was leaving.

A Snipe called as it flew past me towards Hunter Hill from the Boggart Brig track.

Just a Mistle Thrush seen near home.

A lighter afternoon though, with a wrisum of light still in the sky when I got home at 16:15.

Nuthatch that I thought was a Black Redstart

Ogden:

Black Headed Gull tried to eat whatever this is!

  1. 6th photo from the bottoms a stonker, geese over the Mallards all in silhouette, would make a nice calendar.

  2. Thanks Bri.
There were some special colours there this aft. with the jet plane trails reflected in the water and a great sunset.
