√Luddendenfoot to Hebden Bridge circular

A walk today with no bins or camera 'by order of the committee'

It was another cold day but the day improved with some brightness later.
We intended to walk along the canal towpath from Luddenden Foot to Hebden Bridge but path was closed for some repair work.

We walked along the main road for a while before being able to get back on the canal.

The return route was much improved by a detour, following the cycle signs.
This route uses a lovely path through woodland and along the quiet railway line to exit at Luddenden Foot.
This is a path neither Sue or I have walked before but I bet it's a gem with Bins and Camera in tow.

A stop at the Waterside cafe in Hebden Bridge (now fully refurbished after last years devastating floods) was a real treat with lovely food on offer.

The bike shop on then canal at Hebden Bridge, had a sign reporting the theft of 5 electric bikes - a great loss for a small bike shop.

Birds:-

Approaching Brearly woods a Buzzard flew over NNW.

At Broadbottom Lock a Heron was in the fields.

A second Heron was in the field opposite the old Walkley Mill buildings.

Also here a Great Spotted Woodpecker was heard calling and we picked it out high in a tree, a Nuthatch called nearby as well.

In a tree, by the canal,  opposite the Little Theatre in Hebden Bridge a 3rd Heron was seen.

On the return journey, by the railway, a 2nd Great Spotted Woodpecker was heard calling and seen.

Also here were Long Tailed Tits and a calling Nuthatch.

An interesting path - one for a different slow walk day with bins and camera in tow.

An enjoyable outing today.

Great news from the Birdbrain blog today, of a Winter Dunlin on Soil Hill - nice one Nigel.
