Later, the weather not having improved much, I decided to go to Coley. The weather at Coley was poor as well, so I carried on down the road to Lightcliffe looking for Woodpeckers.
Coach Road 11:30 - 13:10
A good saunter down the main track with a short detour , right, along the paved ' Dig Shot' path.
Having trouble with my vowel placement today - whereas the dogs, seemed not too bothered, with their bowel placement.
Anyway, it was quite a good trip out with plenty of birds and bird song - still very murky though.
No Woodpeckers heard drumming today.
Birds:-
4 Mistle Thrush, c12 Long Tailed Tit, 4 Jay, 2 Goldcrest, Singing Song Thrush, 4 Nuthatch, 3 Great Spotted Woodpecker, Bullfinch calling not seen - and a few other sp.
Priestley Green 13:15 - 14:20
I called at Priestley Green on the way home.
I took the path down towards the A58 and also had a general saunter around Shutts Lane area.
Again there was plenty of birds and birdsong.
Top of the pops was a flock of c60 Redwing feeding in the field below Lee Lane Stables.
Birds:-
Great Spotted Woodpecker called as I parked the car - got a glimpse of it as it flew away.
c60 Redwing, Mistle Thrush, Song Thrush, c10 Long Tailed Tit.
3 Jay, Nuthatch calling - and a few other sp.
