A pair of Mistle Thrush demolished my Meal Worm breakfast this morning.
Ogden , cold and damp but not too bad.
c30 small gulls, thought I'd got a Kittiwake for a minute but it was a Black headed Gull.
Not a lot else, Coal Tit, Blue Tit and Great Tit on the feeders.
At the north east end I carried on up the path (north) following the stream "Great Scar" on the O.S. map.
A Red Grouse flushed and disappeared and a solitary, calling, Goose flew past over the gorge - didn't sound like a Canada.
Coming home from the pool / snooker last night c30 Canada Goose, calling loudly, flew >SW low in the mist - this was 10:00pm!!
Nearing the top, where the long footbridge crosses the beck, I turned right to follow a bridleway over the moors to the top of Foreside Lane.
A second Red Grouse flushed along the way.
Down Foreside Lane and first left along the Yorkshire Water fenced in permissive path brought me to Black Edge Lane when a right , and right again, across the fields brought me back to Foreside Lane.
Really quiet today - just a Stock Dove and a Pheasant hereabouts.
Down to Keighley Road and a right past the houses at "County Bridge". A left at the traffic light along Thornton Road had me passing yesterday's Lapwing field - nothing here today.
A right at the traffic lights, and a bit of a trudge, took me along Brighouse and Denholme Gate Road past the Kelham farm shop to the Raggalds.
Goldfinch, Collard Dove, Pheasant and a few Woodpigeon seen on the way.
c30 Lapwing were near the Raggalds, the Raggalds Flood was bereft of bird life.
A better than forecast day weather wise but an extremely disappointing day bird wise today.
Still, the walk was very enjoyable.
Robin of the Day
A dull Ogden Water
The new wind farm - 4 turbines were working
Soil Hill - miles away
Ringby Top - Miles away.
Oxenhope Reservoir
Foreside Lane
Yorks Water permissive path
With the " birds" I've seen today- I'm not likely to place any order thank-you!!
