14:30 - 16:45
A poor day with constant drizzle, blown on by a strong westerly - especially on the tops.
Taylor Lane had c1200 Starlings.
I counted c400 on one section of telephone line and saw that there were at least 400 on another section of the lines. Then a huge flock of Starling lifted from the fields to the boost the number to my estimate - amazing.
Higher up Taylor Lane a smaller flock of Starling were feeding with c50 Fieldfare.
A good scan of the birds and many photos failed to pick out any other birds in amongst.
Soil Hill - was a tad grim.
Tough going up and down the place for a good hour today.
Pr. Mallard, 3 Pheasant, distant Lapwings, Curlew calling from way over beyond Ogden and a Blackbird.
3 Pied Wagtail and a Large Gull that I think is a Lesser Black-backed Gull were seen on the return journey.
Home now and of course it stopped raining - typical.
Mostly Fieldfare
Should've come with me to Cleveland, I had a cracking day mate, shorelark, Icelannd Gull, LEO, etc. OK John I'll stop ballooning now haha, sorry it rained all day for ya mate, no rain where I went just strong winds and DP's sense of direction haha, I'll go this way OOPS it's a dead end.
ReplyDeleteShorelark due in on Soil Hill - be there or be square man (60's gas).
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I thought the passenger (you?) Was supposed to navigate or are you blaming the Satnav?
Tks for the comment
P.s. still b raining
