It was the usual Saturday stuff - Shibden Park then some fun in the garden with Abigail & Emma.
When Sue left to do the home run - Sowerby Bridge - Heckmondwike - Bradshaw, I sloped off up the road.
First stop Raggalds Flood which is nearly dry.
Just 2 Pied Wagtail was all I could muster.
I enjoyed a long chat with Basil, the owner of the house nearby.
Soil Hill 16:20 - 19:30 (ish).
A good scan around Soil Hill on a really gorgeous warm evening did not bring me much birding joy.
I was hoping for Redshank and Snipe but dipped on both.
A couple of Canada Geese were on the quarry pond.
The usual birds hereabouts - 5 Pheasant, Lapwing, Calling Curlew, Pr. Oystercatcher and a solitary Swallow flying low down over the rough area below the north side.
Usual contingent of Meadow Pipit and singing Sky Lark were here as per.
A pr. Mallard on the lower NK pond with a duckling.
Three UNID's - a probable Meadow Pipit partially obscured by a fence post, one Blackbird like with unusually red legs on a
telephone line and another - possibly a rabbit!!
Ned Hill Track had a stick looking like a weasel! a couple of Lesser Black Backed Gulls over and a single Meadow Pipit.
On the way home, a real bonus of a Black Redstart opposite the White Cottage at the west end of Perseverance Road - I went home whistling 'Willie Mcbride" with a spring in my step.
1st UNID - probably a Meadow Pipit
2nd UNID - probably a Blackbird!!
Had another look at this - Starling!!
3rd UNID possibly a rabbit!!
Had another look at this - Woopdigeon!!
A Weird stick!!
