Sue dropped me at Union Lane, Ogden this morning and I enjoyed a good hike around and about with some sunshine for company.
The wind though is still very chilly.
I was on the lookout for Cuckoo and/or Whinchat, neither of which were available for comment today.
Good to bump into NK who had a better Soil Hill than I was to have later on.
From Union Lane I went down to the stream and followed it past the Golf Clubhouse, through Stod Fold and up the gruelling Hunter Hill as far as the road.
Hunter hill was a bit heartbreaking with 3 dead lambs and 2 dead sheep seen, all in separate areas.
Birds:-
Mistle Thrush, Willow Warbler, Loads of Blackbirds, Chiffchaff, Curlew, Lapwing, Skylark, 5 Wheatear - one carrying nest material.
One was displaying - rising into the air whilst singing and floating back down to the wall.
I retraced my steps to the bottom of Hunter Hill, turned left and made my away to Ogden Golf Course.
A possible singing Tree Pipit but no pic, no tick!!.
Reed Bunting, 2 Grey Partridge, Swallow, and a tick in the form of a singing Whitethroat in the bushes behind the maintenance buildings.
Song Thrush, Skylark, Meadow Pipit, seen on the way to Ogden Water.
Ogden Water.
2 Lesser Black-backed Gulls were on the water, with 6 or so seen overhead.
2 Canada Geese, Drake Tufted Duck flew across the water to land near the prom but was not there when I got to that area.
Chiffchaff, Willow Warbler - loads singing.
At the north east end of the water a Green Woodpecker called and I managed to pick it out with the bins but could not get a photo.
Another Green Woodpecker called from further up the slope and a another Woodpecker (GSW?) drummed, just once, from further up the stream.
A couple of Swallow were over the water.
The walk from Ogden to Coal Lane was uneventful.
2 Swallow, Pheasant, Mistle Thrush.
Coal Lane had 3 Swallow chasing each other about, a noisy Oystercatcher flying fast towards Ogden and a Lapwing.
Not a lot happening on the north end of Ned Hill track or Soil Hill.
Willow Warbler, 2 Stock Dove, Skylark, Meadow Pipit.
I was a bit weary by now so I did not give Taylor Lane my usual attention.
Just a Swallow seen off Bradshaw Lane.
Cropped from above pic. Willow Warbler or is it a Chiffchaff?
Green Woodpecker Here ..... somewhere!
