Top tip:
How to avoid the Easter Saturday crowds - take a walk up to Soil Hill.
A very strong NW gale up here and a heavy shower or two with a little taste of sleet, kept me mobile for an hour or so.
Birds:
2 Stock Doves, a Linnet on the main track wall.
The Skylark and Meadow Pipit kept very low when they took to the air.
The lower North field to the left of the NK pond held Pheasant,Lapwing and Woodpigeon.
A Curlew landed in the quarry workings, took a drink from a muddy puddle and flew off towards Ogden.
Top of the shop today, was 8 Wheatear.
Just recognisable miles off in the field to the right of NK pond.
They would be easier to see from Thornton Road I guess.
Leaving the hill via Ned Hill Track a Stock Dove flew overhead .
A nasty downpour came along as I stood opposite the White Cottage on Perseverance Road looking for the Black Redstart - most prob. long gone - and who can blame it with this wind.
At the top of Taylor Lane a solitary Swallow flew fast > NW!
Spot the Linnet
Some poor pictures of the very distant Wheatear:-
Spot the Swallow!!
Not a lot better cropped!!
