Another day, another 'lazy' north east wind kept me moving as I walked from Foreside Lane to home.
At least all this wind has dried up the real boggy bit along the way.
Foreside Lane area had an interesting wader type fly-past.
The bird flew, low, north into the wind with strong angular wing-beats. A brown bird with a Black breast is the best I can come up with. It was past in a jiffy, so no chance of a photo.
Possibly a Dunlin but more probable is a Golden Plover.
Other than that, Lapwing, Lesser Black-backed Gulls over, 1 Swallow, 3 Wheatear, 1 Swift - far off, over Soil Hill, Skylark, Curlew, Pheasant, 2 Linnet.
Ogden Area was quiet again.
Usual Willow Warbler and Chiffchaff singing.
Quite a few Goldfinch.
A Green Woodpecker called from the North East wooded area.
I went to have a look see, but the next call came from far off.
2 Heron were by the water's edge.
Song Thrush, 4 Canada Geese and that was about it.
No Mallard Ducklings - if they have any sense they'll stay away until they are quite big!
A Racing Pigeon was near the bread lobbers area.
A Carrion Crow had found a tasty morsel in the stones by the water.
Old Joke time:
Child: Daddy,Daddy there is a man at the front door with a bald head.
Daddy: Tell him I've already got one.
Above: My Porthmadog Curlew or Whimbrel from 2nd May for comparison.
After studying more Whimbrel photos I believe the above bird is a Curlew. Shame!!
A quiet Ogden water.
