Sowerby Bridge (Soil Hill- Thursday)

10:20 - 12:30

Sowerby Bridge:

I had a short stroll from Sowerby Bridge along the canal towards Copley this morning.
Very. very quiet yet again!
6 Swift were zooming around the top of the Moorings buildings.

A look at the river opposite the 'Halifax Bank' data centre was disappointing with just 3 Drake Mallard hereabouts.

Continuing along the river bank , under the river viaduct to the houses, did not produce much at all, with just a couple of Swift hereabouts.

For the return journey I rejoined the canal just after the viaduct.
A Blackcap was singing in the trees and eventually showed briefly.

A Jay was by the canal and 3 Chiffchaff were singing hereabouts.

A Green Woodpecker called from afar and there were a few Swallow and lots of Canada Geese seen.

That was about it and when heavy rain arrived I made a bee-line for a cafe in Sowerby Bridge to read the paper and have a coffee before going up to White Windows to pick up Emma.

I have included a few photos from an outing to Soil Hill on Thursday.

The last few outings have been a real struggle with 'goodies' impossible to come by.
