√Hollingworth Lake

We enjoyed a few days away with Emma and Abigail at Hollingworth Lake this week.

It was extremely busy with the good weather bringing all the kids out to play.

The water is the lowest  I've ever seen it with plenty of shoreline visible.

Lots of kids on the lakeside paddling in the water and lots more playing in the feeder stream at the north (ish) end of the lake.

I managed a bit of birding but nothing magical came my way this time out.

No Grebes or Cormorant on the water, but given the disturbance, I was not surprised.

The small ponds, a short stroll to the south west side of the lake, were almost bereft of water.
I normally pick out a few waders and ducks here but there was just a few Lapwing about.

  3. Thanks for the ID Dave.
Hope they survive this awful weather.
The Blue Tits are feeding young in my Blue Tit box and find tiny green caterpillars with ease.
I don't know if they are all the same caterpillar sp. or different ones?
