>Soil Hill (Tuesday)

15:00 - 16:50

A return to Soil Hill after the Isle of Wight holiday found it overgrown and with the same birds about as usual.

Not many Meadow Pipit and Skylarks about today, they may hidden in the fields of course.

It was pleasing to pick out my 2 Little Owls in different places along the way and also very pleasing was lots of Bees on the Soil Hill Clover flowers.

A mega distant photo taken of the lower NK pond might just have a Tufted Duck in it?

A few Lesser Black-backed Gulls overhead.
c35 Lapwings were feeding with Starlings and Corvids in the lower north end fields.

Also in the fields domestic Pigeon by the looks of it.

It was pleasing to see many Swallow zooming about and a good few young on the fences and gates awaiting to be fed.

Other birds seen, Linnet, Wood Pigeon, Kestrel and a Stock Dove.

2 very large Gulls soaring, in no rush, overhead may have been Great Black-backed but the poor photo and my Gull ID skills aren't sharp enough to be sure!

A few pics:-
