A late evening bike ride from Filey out
to the Dams on Wharfdale Road.
The light was poor with many birds in
silhouette making ID awkward.
I (or rather Sue) spotted a LIFER for
me in the shape of a Water Rail.
The bird came out into the open next to
the little pond to the left of the main hide.
It was very close and the ID was not in
doubt, the camera though did not come quick enough , before the bird
sloped off into the undergrowth.
We did wait and watch the area for a
good while but the bird choose to stay out of view.
Also here, Tufted Duck, Teal, Moorhen,
Redshank – possibly a Spotted Redshank but the distant photo does
not give me enough detail to be sure.
Mallard, Shelduck, Herring Gull.
Possible Garganey – again not sure.
Nice one with the Water Rail John, you've got to be on the ball to spot one mate, well done
ReplyDeleteHi Dave,
ReplyDeleteSue , Hawkeye, spotted it first.
Pity she's not too keen on birding.
If she was my life list would look healthier.
An unusual site, in amongst houses, but well worth a visit.
Thanks for the comment.
John
