I had a walk up to and around Soil Hill this aft.
Bits of sun, a cool north wind but ok when the sun shone, some large black clouds, but I stayed dry.
Not a lot about.
Taylor Lane had a few Black Headed Gulls and one Common Gull.
Soil Hill:
A Kestrel.
c50 very flighty Goldfinch feeding on the thistles.
Linnet, just 2 or 3 Meadow Pipit.
4 Moorhen on the lower NK pond and few Woodpigeon in the lower north fields.
Coming off Ned Hill Track a Male Sparrowhawk nearly took my nose off (second time in 2 days - maybe my hooter resembles food).
The bird was past in a flash, below me, showing a slate grey back, but no further apparent markings.
The tail was as long as the rest of the body and head combined.
A solitary Swallow along Ned Hill Track with a few Goldfinch in the bushes here.
A couple of (probably) Meadow Pipit in a small bush.
Nice to see the Little Egret was still on Ogden earlier today (NK blog).
And that was about it - a dull do.. but that is Soil Hill most days are stones but a diamond pops up now and again.
Soon be time for Mr.Jack Snipe up here.
Common Gull
Black Headed Gull
Robin of the day
Very large Gull - probably Lesser Black Backed
Ringby Top
Rain not far off
2 Moorhen on the water
2 Moorhen (?) on the right banking
Interesting?
Distant pic taken on Ned Hill Track
I thought these were Meadow Pipit.
The one on the right may be something else?
Cropped from above but still rubbish.
Lesser Black Backed Gull
