Not a bad day weather wise today, cool, calm with a bit of sun.
Taylor Lane had 2 Mistle Thrush and a few Starlings in the fields.
A fly over of 35 Goldfinch and a Kestrel.
Soil Hill.
A single Kestrel seen as I approached Soil Hill.
From Soil Hill track 3 Kestrel and 2 crow types were floating serenely about until the Crow types got a monk on and started mobbing the raptors.
There is a possible Raven in the mix?
Ned Hill Track had 5 Long Tailed Tit in the bushes and 2 Stock Dove overhead.
Nice to bump into, and have a chat with Mr D.P. and Mrs P.
One or possibly 2 Little Owl were near the plantation.
Ogden Water:
C60 small Gulls on / around the drink with a couple of Lesser Black-backed Gulls.
A Jay flew noisily past.
The return journey to Denholme Gate Road had the Little Owl in the same spot.
2 Kestrel knocking about and 4 Partridge flushed from the track just before the road opposite Coal Lane.
The fields below Soil Hill (Shay) had 18 Lapwing and c30 small Gulls, mostly Black-headed.
Raggalds Flood had lots of water with just a Carrion Crow taking a bath.
The football field had c40 small Gulls with a couple of LBBG.
A pretty (very light) Pied Wagtail was on a wall and 2 further Pied Wags were in the Bonnet fields.
A joke to brighten up a dull blog (or not ).
Quasimodo is ringing the bells high in the tower.
The bell rope is broken, so Quasi stands next to the large bell, shoves it forcefully away then moves adroitly, out of the way as it swings close by, giving the bell a second push to keep up the momentum.
He had a good rhythm going until Esmerelda passed by,below the tower, and Quasi is distracted.
He forgot his adroit side step and BANG! the bell Clonks him on the bonce and launches him out of the bell tower window.
He lies prone , knocked out on the deck.
A large Crowd gathers and a copper approaches.
"Anybody know who this man is?" Asks the copper.
"Not sure of his name" replies an onlooker.
"But his face rings a bell".
The old ones.....
A few pics:-
Possibly a Raven
Possibly a Yellow Legged Gull at first sight
But it's a Lesser Black-backed Gull in bright sunlight.
Another LBBG on the podium
