√Raggalds Flood and Bingley Canal

A couple of hours of a leg stretcher this afternoon after a really grotty morning with strong winds and rain.

We stopped off at a drizzly and very windy Raggalds Flood on the way to Bingley.

The wet stuff was on its way home as we arrived at Bingley but the wind was still strong.

The outward leg was very windy, the sun shone on the inner leg and the short legs were busy dodging the puddles on the canal towpath.

We stopped for half a mo. The gusty wind and rain made photos difficult.

There were 4 Wigeon here with Common and Black Headed Gull - a real gem of a place when it rains (when doesn't it rain?).

Bingley Canal.

Again, the wind was a feature.
A Raptor was very distant and high east(ish) of the canal.
I did get a couple of very poor photos before it disappeared.
The lightened and cropped photos are poor as well.
I've no idea what sp. the bird is or what it has in its talons.
Anyone any ideas?

c16 Goldfinch landed in a nearby tree.
6 or so Long Tailed Tit were feeding along the canal bushes.
Usual small birds about but they were keeping a low profile.

The highlight of the outing was c7 Fieldfare that landed in a large tree opposite the five rise locks cafe, as we left in the gloom.
