The usual outing today - Taylor Lane, Soil Hill, Ogden and back via Peat Pitts area, Ingham Lane, Bradshaw Lane.
Bright and quite mild going up to Soil Hill.
Soil Hill had a good Northerly Gale blowing making it glove time up here Brrrrrrrrrrr.
A slow start with nothing much seen until 2 Red Legged Partridge flushed from Soil Hill main track to land in a distant field.
A Green Woodpecker undulated to a tree in the Ogden Plantation area.
A noisy Little Owl was heard but not seen, hereabouts.
Ogden Water 14:15 - 15:00
Ogden Water was quiet at the of start of the walk with the usual Gulls and Mallards.
The circuit walk soon improved with 3 resting Tufted Duck in the distant N.E. end of the water.
Further around the track a large flock of wildfowl made a quick fly past, an exciting experience for me at Ogden.
The flock was very skittish, circling then nearly landing, then circling again.
They landed for 2 minutes and took off to do the 'circling and landing' process again.
They did eventually settle, in a fashion, spread out as far from my vantage point, as possible - which is par for the course.
When I got round to where they were - they went further away again!
There were 25 Teal as far as I could make out.
A great number for Ogden.
I've taken many photos, a lot in silhouette unfortunately, that I need to check through in case there is owt else among the Teal.
After leaving Ogden, opposite Rocks Road, 2 Fieldfare were in a field with a Mistle Thrush.
A few Greenfinch and Chaffinches were very distant, seen via Cow Hill Gate Lane.
A very pleasing few hours of fresh air.
Some good birds seen John, well done. I'd love to get a decent shot of a Green Woodpecker had no joy as yet.
