Long Hike(s)

10:00:

A cracking day today, with wall to wall sunshine.
We enjoyed a good hike over the moors to Haworth.
Afterwards we caught the Haworth to Hebden Bridge bus and after a cafe stop went to catch the bus to Halifax.

The H.B. road was snarled up with traffic going nowhere and there was a long queue for the bus, so we decided to walk along the canal towpath to Sowerby Bridge.

A few buses from Sowerby Bridge and we got home at 7PM.

A great day out.

The moors, as seen from the H.B. bus, were ablaze, well to the west of Leeshaw reservoir.

Birds:-

Only a small camera today.

40 bird sp. seen today, which, for me is a very good number for this time of the year, some of the highlights:-

Lots of Meadow Pipits on the moors was pleasing.

A Little Owl seen near Bradshaw - always a good 'un.

3 Kestrel seen - one was calling with a loud high-pitched call, possibly we spooked it as we passed.

Pr. Grey Partridge.
6 Red Grouse.
2 Curlew.
4 Heron, nesting in a Heronry.
Coal Tit
Calling Chiffchaff
Sparrowhawk
Nuthatch.
Nesting Canada Goose.

Just 2 woodpeckers heard throughout.
1 Green and 1 Great Spotted.

Also seen.

3 Roe Deer and 6 Roe Deer at different locations.
