Bradshaw Area

9:40 - 11:30

The usual stroll around the Bradshaw and Holdsworth areas this morning.
Bright and breezy with the odd spot of light rain and plenty of birds moving about to keep me occupied.

The fields near the Calderdale Way path from Holdsworth to above Oats Royd had 20 or so Thrushes in them.
2 Redwing, 5 Mistle Thrush and 13 or so Fieldfare were here.
(I did not venture down to O.Royd).

A stroll in the copse here found a flock of Long Tailed Tit flitting through the trees - 12 or so (Tits not trees).
They all made an alarm call in unison as a Sparrowhawk came zooming through the trees.

The fields on the way up to Bradshaw had 20 or so Black Headed Gulls, a few Common Gulls with 3 calling Herring Gulls circling low overhead and a very distant Gull with a dark back, was to far away to ID.

A Rook was near O. Royd and a Little Owl called from there also.

As I was walking through the park c10 Fieldfare flew overhead.

A Mistle Thrush was in the sunshine, in the fields behind Brandy Hall.

A very lengthy scan of the field walls beyond Carpet Micks eventually got me a Little Owl in the bins.

2 Crows were taking a dislike to a third Crow type.

An interesting outing but no Black Redstart this year, so far.
The Laurels that I've been resting on are a bit squashed now though...
ah... those heady days of November 2014.

  2. Thanks Dave.
They seem to get more trusting as the winter progresses.
