Brambling at last!!!

A grim, grotsville day, weather-wise today.
Constants drizzle, cold and very dull all day.

We had a busy day ahead of us:-
Pick up Emma from Sowerby Bridge, take her to the dentist at Whitehill Road, Illingworth. Then we took her to see her Granddad near Saville Park.
Sainsburys, next for some shopping and a snack for lunch, then Matalan for some more shopping.
Returning to Sowerby Bridge, late afternoon, Sue spent an hour or so persuading Emma to throw out some of her old clothes, not an easy task.
(Emma has no memory, so all the clothes are 'new' to her).

Then back home (via Halifax) to Bradshaw in the evening via the Sowerby Bridge Road locally known as The Car Park.
Phew!

Birds:-

I managed to sneak off in between the various 'activities'.

The Grange off Whitehall Road was my first port of call, while Emma was at the Dentist.
I like the look of this place, lots of potential.
Today it was very wet and foggy with just Blue, Great and Long Tailed Tit, 6 Chaffinch, Jay and 3 Common Gull about.

A Mistle Thrush was seen in Ken's Ing Royd gardens.

While the ladies were in Matalan I went across the road to explore Lower Kirkgate.

Double figure Blackbirds, Blue, Great and Long Tailed Tit and it was nice to pick out 3 Bullfinch in the tree tops.

Late afternoon at Sowerby Bridge was grim as well.

A walk up Fore Side Lane from White Windows to the small shop and a left here to Higher Brockwell brought..... well, nowt really.
A right here, to look at the large trees by the roadside proved interesting.
2 largish flocks Starling were perched high in some distant trees.

A scan of the larger trees found Chaffinch flitting about and then that magic feeling - Brambling in the bins.

There was a mixed flock of Brambling and Chaffinch but it was impossible to tell how many of each sp. as they flitted about in the worsening gloom.

There were definitely more than 6 Brambling, maybe a lot, lot more!!

A great result on a really crap, wet, dull day!

The pictures are rubbish.
Which is to be expected given the lack of light.

The Grange off Whitehill Road.

Halifax:-

Sowerby Bridge:-

Probably a lot more than 6 Brambling.
