Bradshaw, Soil Hill, Ogden Circular

10:00 - 12:40

ICE:

Yesterday's weather gave a whole new meaning to:-

"I'm just slipping down the road for a JAR, love".

We were due to take Abi to see Beauty and the Beast at Cleckheaton yesterday evening and drop her back at her dad's but we stayed indoors at Bradshaw and played games instead - she didn't seem to mind.

Today I had the usual walk to Ogden.

A Mistle Thrush and a Little Owl were seen from Taylor Lane.
With the bad weather, I thought something might have dropped in on Soil Hill but there was just a flypast of a solitary Lapwing and a couple of Meadow Pipits here.

2 Herring Gulls were seen from Ned Hill Track.
Lesser Black-backed Gull overhead.

11:15 Ogden:

The car park was very full but the circuit was not really busy with people.
Some trees and large conifer branches have been brought down by the weight of the ice and the high winds during the night.

Birds:

Cormorant, 1 Great Spotted Woodpecker called from the north end and a second bird was seen in conifers at the south end.

There was a small Duck on the water, in the glare, that did not quite fit the Mallard silhouette  it is probably a Female Teal.

A Coal Tit, Kestrel and a Mistle Thrush were seen on the way home.
The Kestrel looked to be holding its wings in an odd manner, but it was flying without a problem.

A couple of Roe Deer were also seen along the way, in areas where they were on view to the public, which was unusual.
