Pugney's Park - Wakefield

A real grot-bag of a weekend in Bradshaw with mist, fog and drizzle.

Abigail's dad was struck down by a bug this weekend, so we had the pleasure of Abi for 2 nights instead of one.

I am now the expert on Junior Monopoly (Abi's rules) - Oh Yeah!

After dropping Abi at Heckmondwike late morning, we had a detour to Pugney's park, Wakefield for an hour or so.

A good number of birds and bird sp. here today.

Showers and the odd sunny bit greeted us but it was mostly dull for photos.

A large flock of Widgeon here, but no sign of an American.

Birds:

Wigeon, Mallard, Shoveler, Gadwall, Teal, Pochard.
Tufted Duck - (one looking like a Scaup but the bill tip don't look the part).
F. Goldeneye, Great Crested Grebe, Canada Geese, Mute Swan.
10 Heron, Lapwing, Moorhen, Coot.
Cormorant, Black Headed Gull.

A contender for a Mediterranean Gull - the eyes looked good but the head and bill don't, a Black Headed Gull still in first summer plumage I believe.

Adult Herring Gull.

(I find 1st and 2nd Winter, Herring Gulls and Lesser Black Backed Gulls  difficult to tell apart).

I've probably seen 1st and 2nd Winter Herring Gulls today.

A report of Bearded Tit that are nearby.
No time to check this out today though.

Black Headed Gull still in 1st Summer plumage.
Had the look of a Med Gull.
