Ogden to Bradshaw and a Mystery

12:35 - 16:00

A few snow flurries and two degrees today and an enjoyable outing.
A Kestrel was on a lamp post near the house as I left.

Ogden: The xmas trees were being shunted around today.

C60 Small Gulls - 80% Black Headed 20% Common.
Herring Gull overhead - possibly 1st winter bird.

A Kingfisher was seen as I crossed the promenade, eating a small fish.
(the bird - not me, although I've had fish for tea!).
The bird was in the sluice area - it's very dark down there.

A short stroll through the woods on the east side of the water brought with it a Treecreeper, 2 Goldcrest and 2 Mistle Thrush.
Also here was Bradford and Spurn birders Terry and Abigail.
I enjoyed a chat, stroll and a coffee with them.

Ogden plantation - on the way home:

Kestrel, 4 Pheasant.

Ned Hill Track:

Stonechat.

Taylor Lane Area:

9 Fieldfare, Little Owl.

c20 Lapwing in the fields near the Raggalds Inn.

A bit of a mystery bird overhead looked similar to a Black Headed Gull.

It was flying very fast as I managed 2 awful pictures of it.
It is possibly a wader - don't think it is a Gull.
If I had to guess I plump for Curlew although the bill is not long enough.
Any ideas?

And a few really poor photos of my 'mystery' bird:

  2. Thanks for giving it go Dave.
The pics not clear enough but it's a nice head scratcher.
