Sowerby Bridge to Hebden Bridge walk and Waxwing Dip

11:15 - 13:40

A pleasant walk along the canal today on a mild dull day.

A café stop in Hebden Bridge and a nosy at a few shops then
from Hebden Bridge we caught the bus back to Tuel Lane and walked down to the car park at Sowerby Bridge  (but we managed to squeeze in a dessert  and a coffee at the very reasonable Wetherspoon pub).

Birds:

More walking than birding today, but we did pick out a few goodies along the way.

Sparrowhawk, F. Goosander, 2 Nuthatch, 4 Heron.
2 Grey Wagtail, Pied Wagtail, Mistle Thrush, Redwing.
4 Cormorant, Dipper, Stock Dove, Jay.
Lots of Canada Geese.

We called at B&Q on or way home. It was approaching dusk but I manged to eyeball DJS's Peregrine Falcon (from the Car Park) as it perched on the stone collar of the Corona Chimney at Dean Clough.

Sainsbury's Waxwing Dip:

I had another try for the Waxwings seen again near Sainsbury's this morning, but the bird had flown!
I had an enjoyable chat with Andy C, who was down there.

Afterwards, Sue and I, had to visit Matalan and I had a nosy at the trees near the Parish Church, just in case the Waxwings were here abouts.

There were Redwing, Long Tailed Tit and Bullfinch in the trees opposite the Parish Church.
There seem to be more Bullfinch about than there used to be?

Quite a rewarding day.
