Yet another dull calm day but it was not as cold as yesterday.
Sue took Emma and Abi to see the new Mary Poppins film at Elland Rex cinema so I had a few hours out and about.
Fairly quiet again, but some of the trees and bushes think spring is here.
The bird of the day was Heron with 8 Heron seen all told.
Also good to see 2 Dippers on the river, one in Sowerby Bridge and one near the river/railway bridge near Copley.
Many Black Headed Gulls were seen at the water treatment works, but they were obscured by fences and foliage.
Other birds included:-
2 Moorhen, Long Tailed Tit, Pheasant, F. Bullfinch.
2 F. Goosander.
It's always nice to see a good few Wrens knocking about.
Sparrowhawk or a Peregrine - can't tell.
Flight silhouette looks like a Peregrine.
I keep wondering why I take photos of distant Raptors when I know I'll have next to zero chance of Identifying them!
Maybe, just maybe, I'll snap a Mega one day!
2 Grey Wagtail along the river, one in Sowerby Bridge and one in Elland.
Distant Raptor
Cropped .. not great!
Large Hazelnut found in Elland
Another Sparrowhawk John - nice birds. You must be getting quite a list so far this new year ! Riverside birds are pretty good to see on that stretch.
ReplyDeleteGetting there with my list.
ReplyDelete49 so far, no moorland birds yet.
Water Pipit and Waxwing would be nice!!
