Mixenden Reservoir to Bradshaw

10:45 - 15:00

A beautiful day for a nice longish walk today.
Wall to wall sunshine and my hopes were up, hoping for a mega.
The hope faded a bit as the walk progressed though.
It was nice to bump into NK near Ogden Golf club - hope he did better than me in the mega stakes.

Birds:

Mixenden Reservoir:

The water had 12 Cormorant in residence, c130 Small Gulls, Moorhen, F. Goosander, F. Goldeneye.

The birds on the water always managed to stay at the furthest point from where you are!

The woods had a calling Green Woodpecker, Singing Song Thrush and 2 Nuthatch.
Not a bad do really.
Nothing mush seen on the lovely track to Ogden.

Ogden:

A tad disappointing.

The stream side path from the golf club house to the dell had the usual small birds flitting about.
Chaffinch, Blue Tit, Great Tit, Long Tailed Tit, Coal Tit and Bullfinch.

c70 Small Gulls, 2 Goldcrest.
2 Great Spotted Woodpecker calling from different bits of the NE wood.
One was also drumming.
A prolonged search did not locate them alas.

Coal Lane area had 2 Pied Wagtail.

A couple of Herring Gull were seen from Ned Hill Track and a What I though was Lesser Black-backed Gull passed overhead.

Also 2 Meadow Pipit along the muddy track.

Percy Road fields held 2 Skylark.
