Shibden Park and Bradshaw Area.

Shibden Park:

The first decent weather on a Saturday for ages saw us take Abi and Emma to Shibden Park so Abi could get on her bike again.
I had a nosy around to see if anything juicy was here.
I got fair excited at one point thinking that I'd got messen a Med. Gull but the excitement was short lived when I got nearer and saw that the bird was a Black Headed Gull in near summer garb.

The usual birds were here.
Black Headed Gull, Moorhen, Coot, Mute Swan, Canada Goose.
A Mistle Thrush made a brief appearance,

Bradshaw Area:

14:15 - 16:15

A couple of hours out and about this afternoon.
Quite breezy but pleasant enough in the sunshine.
I went down through the fields to Holdsworth and came back via the Calderdale Way, up Ingham Lane and along the farm tack (starts below Ned Hill Road) to home.

A Mistle Thrush was singing in Bradshaw Park.
2 further Mistle Thrush were in the Holdsworth fields.
Small numbers of Gulls (mainly Common Gulls) were here and there, including Herring Gulls.
A few Rook knocking about.

The Bradshaw Farm track held a few interesting birds:-

A Pr. Partridge flushed only giving me a mo. to get a pic.
They flushed with a fairly quiet 'click' call and were soon 'over the hill'. Grey Partridge I believe. A good bird of the day.

Another good bird was my resident Little Owl that I managed to locate after a bit of searching - always a smile bringer.
On looking at the pic. again - 2 Little Owl are present!

Not a bad do really.

A Little Owl is calling outside as I write this!

Shibden Park:

Mega distant Geese flying through Halifax, taken from the car.
Canada Geese?

Bradshaw Area:

3 Herring Gull and Another Gull on the right .
Looks mighty big for a  Common Gull probably a Herring Gull?
Bills a bit chunky for a Common Gull.

The Gull on the right

Spot the Grey Partridge.

Ah there they are - miles off by now!

Mr Little Owl took some finding as well as a second one!
