A rough day, weather wise today with gale force winds and hefty showers this morning.
The rain packed in by lunchtime but the strong gale persisted.
I was unsure of where to go today but decided against a walk and took the car to Ogden.
I bumped into B.S. arriving at Ogden as I was leaving.
Hope he had more joy than I did.
Birds:
c30 Small Gulls and a Lesser Black-backed Gull were on the water at one point.
Lots of Gulls up enjoying the strong wind by the looks of it.
Not a lot seen on a circuit of the drink just a couple of Goldcrest were on the West Bank.
I gave Back Lane a try and I bumped into the owner of the property there and enjoyed a good natter with him.
A Heron landed nearby as we were chatting.
Lots of trees have been recently planted near here.
As I arrived at Back Lane,4 Partridge, 'legged it'.
Difficult to tell if they are Grey or Red Legged but according to Collins Bird Guide: RLP - Wary, runs away quickly, Flies only if pressed - so I'll plump for Grey Partridge, because these birds flushed at 40 yds.
I can't tell much from the flight pattern.
This gave me a bit of a boost - aint seen Partridge in a while.
The feeders had Blue, Great and Long Tailed Tit on them.
Constantly moving Goldcrest - best I could do!
New trees as far as the eye can see
A few Partridge photos:-
Cropped from the pic above - 3 blobs.
