Sowerby Bridge to Hebden Bridge & Soil Hill late afternoon

Our usual walk this morning from Sowerby Bridge to Hebden Bridge, along the canal.
A cool start warmed up nicely by mid-day.

Birds:-

Nothing out of the ordinary seen.

4 Goosander, Canada Geese, Moorhen.
Cormorant overhead.
2 Pied Wagtail, Grey Wagtail.
Green Woodpecker calling - not seen.

8 Heron - 3 Nests with Heron present in the trees close to the individual nests.(1/4 mile N of Brearley).

A large Covid over Hebden Bridge looked Raven-like but I think it's a Rook?

and a few other sp.

Soil Hill to home.

15:15 - 16:40
Cooler here but quite pleasant with some clouds knocking about.

A walk along the very muddy Ned Hill Track produced a few Common Gull in the lower fields and not a lot else.

Soil Hill was very quiet (again) and the lower (NK) pond and Shay fields were bereft of birds.

All was not lost though when a Skylark, flushed from the east side, burbled a bit and flew low to disappear into the long grass. A local tick for me.

The Percy Rd. midden held Pr. Grey Wagtail and a Solitary Common Gull was in a nearby field.

It was pleasing to pick out my Taylor Lane Little Owl on the way home (me not the LOWL).

Not a bad day out.

There is a Skylark in here somewhere.

Ah! There it is.
