Brighouse Canal - short stroll and Raggalds Flood

A visit to the Brighouse this afternoon was followed by a fleeting visit to the canal.

Dry and bright with the breeze strengthening as we left.
The river is very high now shooting over Avocet weir eliminating  the sandy shore and with it any chance of Grey Wag.

Birds:

Bullfinch, Long Tailed Tit, 2 Cormorant, Canada Geese.
Black Headed Gull, Singing Song Thrush, Heron.
A real nice surprise was a Kingfisher.

An odd looking Canada Goose was also on the canal.

Raggalds Flood.

Very windy here, and cold with it.
I had a look at the Raggalds Flood on the way home.
As I approached the field gate the Redshank flushed from the top 'puddle' to the bottom one. Also here a solitary Lapwing.

Unusual Canada Goose

It didn't stop long!

Avocet Weir

Redshank makes a getaway.
Definitely not a Spotted Redshank!
