We took Abi and her dad to Pugney's Park, nr Wakefield this morning.
A tad Dull at times but dry with a cold easterly wind.
I sneaked off for an hour's birding.
The 'usual' species for this site were here, as far as I could make out anyway.
Some of the birds:-
Many Noisy Black Headed Gulls, strewn about all over the lake.
Lesser Black-backed Gull, Herring Gull.
Mute Swan, Canada Goose.
Many Tufted Duck - a group of 9 were diving in unison!
Great Crested Grebe, Gadwall, Coot.
Over 25 Cormorant, Shoveler, Goldeneye, Mallard.
Pied Wagtail, Grey Wagtail.
Soil Hill 18:20 - dusk.
A walk up and around Soil Hill - you never know if you don't look!
More or less the same birds as yesterday:-
(4 distant birds high over Bradshaw Lane - possibly Golden Plover?).
Pr. Kestrel, 3 Curlew, Pheasant, Skylark,Mallard.
A pr. Partridge flushed from behind me as I went along Ned Hill Track, just caught a glimpse of them.
