Lytham St.Annes Holiday.

With Abi breaking up from school before Easter we took her
and Emma to Lytham St. Annes.

Sunday 14th April 2019.

The cold north easterly wind was very strong here today.

On the way to our Caravan site we stopped near the Slots,
Pier and RLNI shop.
Managing to get a handy disabled parking spot.
In the slots Abi hit the jackpot on a 2p machine – winning 150
tickets in one go!
In the ticket shop these are probably worth a packet of
Spangles, but it's good fun on a bitterly cold day!

There is a wooden walkway that goes out a hundred yards
 or so.
At the end of this it was difficult to stand up in the wind.
However there were some distant Waders here, albeit
in very poor light.

Great Black-backed Gull,Redshank with many Dunlin
were here with a good few Ringed Plover.

We were staying at Eastham Hall Caravan Park a
couple of miles out of Town.
  • Late evening I left the girls watching Moanna Disney DVD and had a stroll about.
There are some flooded fields here, and although there has been little rain for a while, there were still 2 large ponds. The main pond was very distant alas. I was hoping for a Harrier or a Barn Owl but no joy
tonight although I hung about till dark.

Although the weather wasn't brilliant it was
noticeably colder here in Bradshaw this evening.

Birds:

Lesser Black-backed Gull, Lapwing, Teal, Gadwall, Shoveler,
Mute Swan, Redshank.
Many Black-tailed Godwit, Oystercatcher, Canada Goose,
Coot.Moorhen, Mallard.

A large Crow-like Raptor with a small bill?? almost passed by, before
I realised it was not a Corvid.

Thornton Cleevelys

Monday 15th April 2019.

We had a trip to YMCA Thornton Cleeveys to do some 10
Pin Bowling.
Afterwards we had a short walk along the massive beach here.
Dull again and quite windy.

Sanderling and Ringed Plover were dashing about.

At the top of the beach where the tide drops the seaweed
and other detritus, a real gem of a find.

3 Turnstone were asleep here, barley discernible,
great camouflage.

Lytham:
