Sowerby Bridge to Hebden Bridge

Another strong cold north easterly was blowing down Bradshaw Lane this morning.
It had shifted the misty stuff though.

We decided to get off the hill and went down to Sowerby Bridge and walk along the canal to Hebden bridge.
10 times milder here with hardly any wind in places along the canal and very pleasant when the sun peeped out.
Half way along the walk we stopped Nr. Mytholmroyd at 'The Kitchen' a canal side café near the old White Lion pub.
After some lovely spicy Mexican Bean soup we were on our way again.
We enjoyed a bun and a take away coffee from Marshalls bakery in Hebden as we sat in the square in the sun.
Bus back to Sowerby (free for me) £3 for Sue - so a cheap and cheerful do all round.

Birds:-

Sue didn't take her bins which was an ominous sign.
Although we did not stop and stare too long, we did get some goodies along the way.

Top of the shop was a solitary Redpoll, seen nr. Brearly, that came down to drink from the canal, giving good views.
A pretty rare bird for me to see.
(Presumably it's a Lesser Redpoll).

Also along here 3 Grey Wagtail.
Nearing Hebden a Dipper was by the river wall in darkness.
A loudly singing Blackcap was a little further along in the bushes opp. the long line of barges.

A large Gull, high and distant that looked 'interesting' showing a possible pale window in the underwing.
May be a Great Black-backed Gull and maybe not?

Back in Sowerby Bridge, 2 Swallow were seen.

6 Canada Geese were on eggs along the way also.
And a few other sp.
