Reservoir Run - COLD

Very, very cold with a fresh north easterly wind today, and murky with it.

Ponden:

Exceptionally quite, nothing much on the water.

Birds:-

Cormorant, Curlew, Moorhen, 3 Pied Wagtail.
Great Spotted Woodpecker calling.
Pheasant, Pr. Oystercatcher, 2 Canada Geese.
Meadow Pipit, Greylag Goose, Green Woodpecker calling.
Lesser Black-backed Gull, Grey Wagtail.

Lower Laithe:

3 Lesser Black-backed Gull, 2 Black Headed Gull, Canada Goose, Mallard, Curlew.

Marsh Area Fields:

67 Golden Plover counted - fairly distant in the murk - probably more.

Leeshaw:

Always lots of bird noise here at this time of the year - today was no exception.

Birds:

Oystercatcher very mobile - more than 10 birds.
Lapwing, Canada Goose, Redshank, Wheatear.
Greylag Goose, Curlew, 3 Black Headed Gull.
Red Grouse calling from the moor.
Pied Wagtail.
Snipe.
Kestrel or 2.
A few Meadow Pipit

A nesting Lapwing looked very vulnerable in the centre of a field.

Loads of Corvids.

Leeming.

Quiet here today (are you seeing some kind of pattern)
1 Common Gull, 4 Lesser Black-backed Gull.
Grey Wagtail, Canada Goose, Curlew.
Song Thrush, Pr. Redshank.
Cormorant overhead, Pied Wgtail.

20+ Meadow Pipit was a heart warming sight.

A bit of an anti-climax today.
