A grim do late morning, early afternoon with a strong wind and heavy showers interspersed with light showers - wet throughout.
With a report of Comic Terns at Hollingworth Lake this morning, I gave a couple of local reservoirs a coat of looking at.
(I've not heard the term 'Comic Terns' before and I had to Google it to find out the meaning).
Leeshaw 11:15 -12:15
5 Degrees, Heavy Rain.
I sat in the car for most of the 'outing'.
Very little shoreline easily visible from the car, but a lot of shoreline in the distance.
A couple of Gulls - Black Headed and Lesser Black-backed.
A few Oystercatcher seen.
A distant bedraggled looking Curlew.
A Common Sandpiper, that appeared flying through the gloom, landed out of sight below the banking in front of the car.
Lapwings were on Patrol having a go at owt that moved.
c10 Greylag Geese and a few Canada Geese.
Redshank calling.
A Snipe flew overhead.
(I missed the HC sighting of Sanderling and Turnstone).
Ogden 12:50:
I called at Ogden on my way home and did a circuit of the water.
Wet here also and very, very quiet.
1 Lesser Black-backed Gull.
Moorhen, Mallards.
Pr. Bullfinch, Willow Warbler, Chiffchaff etc.
Did you get the result from Comic Tern ? if not it's unidentified as a Common or Arctic and not sure which one !!
