Ogden Woods - mostly

12:45 - 15:30 (ish)

The outing today started off dull and dry and finished off dull and very wet.
A change of route today with a look for Owls in the woodland.
I followed the east side boundary path, all the way up to the moors and back and repeated the exercise on a similar route in the woodland itself.

An interesting outing with lots of birdsong but birds difficult ot locate and photograph in the dark trees.

Great Spotted Woodpeckers were calling frequently and 2 were seen.
I also came across a G.S.W. nest hole with a young bird in residence - a really nice surprize.

One bird gave me the run around for ages and all I could manage was an out of focus photo - possibly a juv. Chiffchaff?

Others:-

Blackcap, Chiffchaff, Pheasant, Willow Warbler.
Pr. Mating Chaffinch.
Jay, Swallow, Curlew, Mistle Thrush.
Many Blackbirds.
Skylark, Meadow Pipit.
Swift, Oystercatcher overhead.

By/on the water.

Quite again. Heron, 1 Black Headed Gull, 1 Lesser Black-backed Gull.

Nothing special but I enjoyed the outing - could have done with a bit less rain if I'm honest.

And a couple from last night, sat in the garden:-
