A long outing today, on a dull cool sort of day with rain threatening but not materialising.
Sue dropped me at Jerry Farm on her way to her friend Helens.
I had a good hour or so stroll about at Jerry Farm before following the Calderdale Path towards home.
I was a bit disappointed with my birding efforts at Jerry Farm, only seeing the usual woodland species.
Birds seen on the walk from here past the Hullet and over the moors by Wainstalls faired better.
A Buzzard was seen as I looked back over the Castle Carr estate.
A Pr. Curlew, 2 Linnet and Pr. Reed Bunting and a Little Owl also seen.
A Mistle Thrush made a noise I have not heard before when a cat was on a roof near to it.
A look at the small reservoir near the old site of the Moorcock Inn revealed a large flock of Canada Geese, complimented with a pr. Barnacle Geese.
The walk from here to Stod Fold revealed a second Little Owl that after it left a field wall was followed closely by an angry Mistle Thrush.
Swift, Swallow and House Martin were below Hunter Hill and another Reed Bunting.
C30 Long Tailed Tit flew (in 3's) from one tree to another more distant tree - at least they were easier to count.
A pr. Grey Wagtail were on the rocks of the Stod Fold stream and an Oystercatcher called loudly overhead here.
I had a really enjoyable chat with a chap called Dave in his garden near Brook House.
He has pr. Tawny Owl that regularly visit his garden.
A small bird was singing In the rough ground below the Lower Brockholes Boarding Kennel area.
I put out on the grapevine that it was a Redpoll but looking at the photo, the bird is a Linnet.
Seems to be my week for ID errors.
An enjoyable afternoon out today and it was great to see that the quagmire by the Moorcock Inn site has been sorted.

Difficult to hold the camera steady on Zoom.
