Ogden

16:10 - 17:45

Dull, damp and cool this afternoon but mostly a dry outing.
I drove over to Ogden for some birding, a walk around the reservoir and then up to Back Lane was about it.

Birds:-

4 Tufted Duck (3 Drakes), 2 Oystercatcher over.
41 Canada Geese, c80 Mallard - nice to see some larger youngster have made it past their various 'obstacles'.
Mistle Thrush, 2 Song Thrush, Blackbird.
Chiffchaff, Curlew, Wren, Willow Warbler.
Kestrel, Robin, Pr. Stock Dove, Pheasant.
Goldfinch, Chiffchaff, Swallow.
Lesser Black-backed Gull over.
Woodpigeon, Meadow Pipit.

I managed to get hold of a copy of the excellent
 "Halifax Birdwatchers' Club" report today.
Over 70 pages packed with local birding info and some photos of some of the rarer birds seen in Calderdale in 2018.
It must take many hours to compile!
Well done to all involved.

Good News for me:

Looking at the recording area map, in the report, I realise that my 'Foreside Lane Area' stroll that I enjoy (which I thought was in the BOG area) actually enters Calderdale within 400 yds of where I set out from.
I don't usually go up Foreside Lane itself but I opt for the bridleway before it on the Halifax side.
