Filey Holiday

30/07/19 Update:

After some very helpful contact with an FBOG member - I have been rather optimist with my Roseate Tern.
Just Sandwich and Common Tern seen and photographed.
Still fab birds.

School's out!
So we took Abi and her dad to Filey for a holiday this week.
A brilliant week with hot sunny weather.
Abi had a great time on her bike and she managed to paddle in the sea everyday.
She even braved a mighty thunderstorm with her dad in their tent one night.

I got some 'me' time as well with 3 morning visits to Filey Dams, carrying my gear on my old bike.
In the hides there was some good serious birding with other birders and loads of laughs as well - with ancient tales - one about a mega bird being 'flushed' by some one 'passing wind' in the hide, as he tried to get nearer to the action!

I also got to the end of Filey Brigg during high tide which was very special for me.
I was able to photograph Sandwich Terns to my hearts content.
I could spend a week on the Brigg - easy.

Some Photos:-

I presume this is a Sandwich Tern.
However, the head markings have much less black.
The legs look longer?
Maybe as the bird grows the legs look 'dumpier' in proportion?
Roseate Tern???
Right 1st time - Juv. Sandwich Tern

And the tide changes and no more Terns!!
