Soil Hill Area, Redcar Tarn and Raggalds Flood

Soil Hill Area.

A free morning with Sue taking Abi swimming at Spenborough Baths, Cleckheaton (the facility closes for 2 years, at the end of August for refurb).

I had a try for DB's Spotted Fly or Tree Pipit, although given the time lapse I did not hold out much hope.

A dismal, breezy outing with persistent drizzle.
It is very overgrown with the perimeter path nearly non-existent.
The path across the hill's apex look ok though.

Birds:

An 'athletic' looking Curlew was too distant on the lower Shay fields to turn into anything else.
Pheasant, 2 Lesser Black-backed Gulls, Woodpigeon.
Canada Goose, 2 Stock Dove flushed from underfoot.
Kestrel, Wren, Blackbird, Linnet, Swallow, Carrion Crow, Jackdaw.
Other large Gulls overhead periodically.

Redcar Tarn - Keighley.

After a trip to ASDA at Keighley we parked up at Redcar Tarn for a short while.
Squally showers here and breezy also.
I didn't pick out anything exceptional.
But I've got over 100 photos to have a look through at my leisure!
House Martin and Swallow were feeding low over the water.

A Raptor had them mobbing it as it flew very quickly past, not slowing to take a look.
Probably a Kestrel but the wings were very sharpe and angular.
I got a photograph but it isn't great.

Raggalds Flood:

Great to see some juice here, but it wont last long.
A few Mallard with Black Headed Gull of various ages.
Also two Juv. Lesser Black-backed Gulls.

Awesome photo of Pheasant and Curlew in the lower Shay fields

Redcar Tarn:
