Ringstone Reservoir - Barkisland Area

I dropped Emma off at Sowerby Bridge after her dentist appointment this morning and took the opportunity to visit Ringstone Res. - being a bit nearer to it , than at Bradshaw.

I was hoping to catch up with the 2 Ruff seen here (JB PD) and photographed by DF recently.
The weather was poor with few breaks in the persistent heavy showers.

I took 50 plus mega distant photos to have a look through later.

Birds:-

At least 27 Golden Plover with a large flock of Lapwing and Small Gulls.

A good long search failed to produce the goods however, but with the distance and poor visibility the Ruff could still be present.

The whole flock was flushed at one point and took to the sky en-masse.
I took some photos whilst they were in flight , but I cannot see the Ruff, after a good scan through all the photos.

I have posted some truly awful photos just in case ....

Raggalds Flood had a good bit of juice and a few Black Headed Gulls.

  1. Not much fun today John.....a lot of birds up there and they take some sifting through. Well done for giving it a go despite the disappointment with the Ruff.

  2. Cheers Dave.
It made me appreciate how well DF did in getting 2 good photos of the birds in flight!
