Local Black Redstart

12:50 - 14:45

I set off in sunshine but I got caught in a very heavy shower on Soil Hill.
A great outing with a really rare bird ( for me) today.
The usual walk from home through the Bradshaw fields to Ned Hill Lane - Soil Hill - Taylor Lane.

Birds:

A large Corvid, seen early on, distant with slow wing beats is probably a Carrion Crow(?).
(19:17) Update:  I think the Corvid is a Raven.

A solitary Herring Gull and a Little Owl seen from the path to East View farm with smaller Gulls feeding in the fields lower down.
After passing through East View Farm a chance sweep with the bins, over a gate on the right, got me a Robin  sized bird dropping from the fence.
The bird reappeared briefly before disappearing again.
A Black Redstart!
I hung about for a while , unhappy with the one photo that I'd got but no joy.
Had the weather not looked so threatening I'd have stayed longer.

Ned Hill Track had 2 Pheasant and a Kestrel.

The heavy rain scuppered Soil Hill's views a bit and just a few Meadow Pipit here.

Taylor Lane midden had 2 Meadow Pipit, Dunnock ane Pied wagtail.

A pleasant outing today.
