Bradshaw / Ogden etc

13:00 - 16:00 (ish).

A very busy morning, this morning, meant that I missed the good sunny weather and had to make do with the misty grotty stuff this afternoon.

An interesting outing with a few 'ticks' along the way.

I enjoyed a really good chat with the farmer who owns the lower shay fields.
He was telling me how they put in the pond that can be seen from Soil Hill - known to me as the NK pond.
He also said how he was really protective of the nesting Lapwings and that they time their mowing etc so as not to disturb the nesting birds.

Birds:-

Bradshaw:

Mistle Thrush.
3 Little Owl, 1 Single and a pair within 'kissing distance" of each other.

Ogden Water:

Black Headed Gull, Common Gull, Herring Gull.
1 Lesser Black-backed Gull.
2 Kingfisher. ( 1 in the sluice, 1 in the NW bushes).
Goldcrest.

Both Great Spotted Woodpecker and Green Woodpecker called from the North end.
Plus usual sp.

Bird calls:

A couple of new bird calls for me today.

First one was a cross between a Dove and a 'Crow'.
More Dove like I would say - a couple of notes/calls then nothing for a good while. Then a couple of notes/calls.
This was heard from the NE woods and the sound was that of a 'large' bird.
I tried to take a video to record the call but the bird did not play ball - moving further away, just within earshot.

The second call was from a small bird that left the plantation conifers and flew over my head - a two note call that was definitely new to me.
I got a truly awful picture of the culprit!

Interesting stuff - but not much good for ID purposes!!

Plantation Area:

2 Kestrel.
Stock Dove(s).

Nothing much along Coal Lane, Ned Hill Track, Percy Road and Taylor Lane as the mist closed in on me.
