Brighouse / Soil Hill

A 'non-birding' stroll along the canal at Brighouse this morning, no bins or camera allowed!

As we walked from the fishing ponds towards Ganny Lock a Buzzard was being mobbed by crow types.
A Greenfinch called a bit further along.
On the return from Brighouse a Kestrel was in the same place as the earlier Buzzard.

On the way home in the car a large Raptor was seen soaring over Northowram.
I grapevined the sighting just in case anyone was there abouts - could have been a Red Kite or more likely a Buzzard. Too far off to say.

Soil Hill, Taylor Lane etc.

14:30 - 16:15

Another look around Soil Hill, snow still on the deck and a really strong bitter wind on the west facing hilltop brrrr.

Not much happening on the hill, a Drake Teal was on the lower NK pond. A nice 2020 tick today!

2 Herring Gull seen from Ned Hill Track.
An airborne Common Gull ,had black feet by the look of the photo - I can't turn it into a Kittiwake though.
Presumably it's been foraging in the "Black hills of Dakota"

Taylor Lane:

Rook, c10 Goldfinch.
c15 Fieldfare with a group of Starling.
Greenfinch calling from the Conifers by the Koi Carp farm.

The usual Lapwings and Starlings, at distance,  by the Raggalds.

A Stock Dove was on a farm roof - seen from Bradshaw Lane.

Good to chat to Dave B. up here.
(I'd have mentioned the Teal location Dave, If I knew they were in the camera!!).

Way distant - Drake Teal
