Raptors:
Nothing much for the first hour but Buzzards started to appear being harassed by Corvids.
They were all due E of me, mostly over the conifers above Oats Royd, nr. Roper Lane.
A single Buzzard high > W and later 2 distant Buzzards WSW.
Later still a large contingent of Corvids were mobbing a Raptor, again way over by Oats Royd.
The bird looked like a Harrier to me at the time.
In one of the photos it looked massive in comparison to the Corvid next to it.
But further examination of the photo, has tempered my enthusiasm, and it's a Buzzard ... boo-hoo.
Soon after another Buzzard came over, passing near my house.
Others - Raven, Curlew, Pheasant, calling Greenfinch and a Green Woodpecker that called for a good while.
Common Gull and Herring Gull.
Blackbird with nesting material.
The Green Pecker takes my garden list, since the lockdown, to 33.
Walk:
Usual short stroll.
A new sighting, made a change - a Heron over Bradshaw.
The Redshank pair were still at Raggalds Flood with the pr. Pied Wagtail.
Other than that a few Meadow Pipits was about it.
Photos:
I've taken so many Buzzard pictures during the day, it difficult to know which is which, but I've separated them as best I can! Just in case!
Common Gull.

4th Buzzard below:
The above photo had me thinking 'Harrier" for a while.
The bird looked large nearly gooselike on the camera display.
5th Buzzard below.
Looks like they prefer the westerly on to that ridge John after all those easterlies recently. Wish I could get a few more down here. (getting greedy now) ! Nothing new for me. Stuck on 39 though 7 Redwings came in at dusk, but I had the same ones last week. Chiffy soon - they are nearby !
ReplyDeletecold and windy for a few days might affect our garden patrol!
ReplyDeleteHoping to scope the fields below Roper Lane for Wheater!!
Good Luck - stay safe.
