Monday Blues

Wet and windy this morning and we made a visit to Morrisons - first time the car has moved in a week.
While Sue shopped I waited in the car park sky watching.
A heavy 20 minute shower soon had me sheltering in the car though.
Just a few Gull were seen overhead.

While we were unpacking the shopping I received a grapevine text telling me that Dan B. had seen a Osprey airborne over Soil Hill - see Calderdale Birders Blog for the photos - nice one Dan.

Our walk was nothing to write home about, with the usual suspects seen.
Meadow Pipit, 1 Redshank and a Pr, Pied Wagtail on the 'flood'.
A Lesser Black-backed Gull overhead.

The garden / afternoon sky watch was a windy affair with little seen.
A Kestrel, 4 Linnet and a Pied Wagtail were pick of the bunch.
A Great Tit was eyeballing a potential nest site.

An old joke:
A lady drew back her bedroom curtains one morning, to see a massive Gorilla sitting in a tree in her garden. She phoned the zoo and said "You'll never guess what I can see from my bedroom window". A Gorilla said the zoo keeper? Yes replied the woman - how did you guess?
Gordon the Gorilla escaped last night, we were wondering when he would turn up.
Don't worry just keep away from him, our Gorilla expert will be with you shortly.
5 Mins later and a knock on the door announced the arrival of the Gorilla expert.
The man had arrived in a white van and was onloading his tackle as she approached him.
He unloaded a ladder, a huge net, a shotgun and an unusual piece of equipment with a large motor on it.
He also unloaded a HUGE great dane dog.
He passes the shotgun to the lady.

What's the plan? asked the lady
It's no big deal madam said the man.
I put the ladder against the tree. Carry the vibrating machine up the ladder ad attached it to the tree.
I'll hold tight and turn on the machine and it will shake the tree violently.
The Gorilla falls from the tree.
Spike the dog grabs the Gorilla by the goolies.
I climb down the tree, throw the net over the Gorilla and load him into the van.
Ok but what is the shotgun for.
If I fall from the tree, before the gorilla falls, shoot the dog.
