Pr. Canada Geese, 2 Mistle Thrush and a few large gulls were seen over the Car Park here.
Colder still on Soil Hill top where I went as part of today's exercise walk.
The cold wind on Soil Hill kept things quiet with no Willow Warblers singing on the top (like they were during the earlier heat wave) but the hardy Skylarks were giving in good voice.
I was hoping for a 'goodie' after DB's great early morning outing.
A very limited garden watch today, I decided to complete a children's game that I hope to play with Abi when things return to normal.
However, she has discovered computer games during lockdown, so my 'paper games' will probably not cut mustard any more.
Exercise walk birds:-
Lapwing, Curlew, Meadow Pipit, Kestrel, Willow Warbler, Skylark, Pheasant, Greenfinch, Linnet, Little Owl and a few other sp.
Looking towards Southowram from Morrison's Car park
Soil Hill - The North Side Hill
Hi John. I was in the JB spot yesterday on the west bank of Ringby Top. The 'painter' had just whizzed his roller brush and paint can into the heather after his or her masterpiece !!
ReplyDeletePair of Whitethroat on the top (natural white (unpainted) throat) and a few Linnets, couple of Sky;ark and a few mipits but it was nice to get up there for a change.
It's good for the sanity to get out from the 4 walls.
ReplyDeleteFortunately for me, I can be away from nearly any houses/people in 20yds of home.
Birding is a hobby that lends itself to isolation.
Strangely enough I'm seeing a few people near Soil Hill which very rarely occurred before lockdown.
I'm missing the Ogden reservoir birds, but they will wait till we are back to normal - hopefully.
Whitethroat's good - I see a Lesser Whitethroat was seen nearby at Shibden Head, Queensbury - nr. where I used to live.
